Fleet management systems in Australia and New Zealand to exceed 2.4M by 2027

IoT analyst firm Berg Insight predicts substantial growth in active fleet management systems deployed across commercial vehicle fleets in Australia and New Zealand.

As of Q4 , the number of active fleet management systems in the countries stands at approximately 1.4 million units. Berg Insight forecasts this figure to reach over 2.4 million units by 2027—driven by a robust compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.5 percent.

The fleet management market in the region witnesses a dynamic with a multitude of players, ranging from local vendors to prominent international solution providers.

Berg Insight identifies Teletrac Navman, EROAD, and MTData as the leading providers in Australia and New Zealand, collectively commanding over 60 percent of the active units. Notably, all three of the aforementioned providers have each surpassed the milestone of 100,000 units.

The top five solution providers also include US-based Verizon Connect and Netstar Australia, while Rand McNally, having acquired Fleetsu in Australia in 2022, emerges as a significant player.

Other noteworthy vendors with substantial subscriber bases in the region encompass local players such as IntelliTrac, Linxio, and Smartrak, alongside entities like Geotab (Canada) and MiX Telematics (South Africa).

Berg Insight’s Principal Analyst, Rickard Andersson, notes that notable OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) have independently or through partnerships launched fleet telematics solutions in the region.

“OEMs which have launched fleet telematics solutions in the region independently or through partnerships include UD Trucks, Toyota, Hino, Mitsubishi, PACCAR, Volvo Group, Daimler Truck, Fuso, Scania, MAN and Iveco,” said Andersson.

The underscores the industry’s dynamism and the role of both local and international players in shaping the evolving landscape of fleet management systems across Australia and New Zealand.
